Cher
Cher (born Cherilyn Sarkisian on May 20, 1946) is an American recording artist, Emmy Award–winning television personality, award-winning actress, director, record producer and philanthropist. Referred to as the Goddess of Pop, she has won an Academy Award, a Grammy Award, an Emmy Award, three Golden Globes and a Cannes Film Festival Award among others for her work in film, music and television. She is the only person in history to have received all of these awards. Cher began her career as a backup singer and later came to prominence as one half of the pop rock duo Sonny & Cher with the success of their song "I Got You Babe" in 1965. She subsequently established herself as a solo recording artist, and became a television star in 1971 with The Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour, a variety show for which she won a Golden Globe. A well received performance in the film Silkwood earned her a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in 1984. In the following years, Cher starred in a string of hit films including Mask, The Witches of Eastwick, and Moonstruck, for which she won the Academy Award for Best Actress in 1988.
Cher, throughout a career spanning over six decades, has broken many records. She is the only artist to reach number one on the Billboard charts in each of the previous six decades, and also holds this record for four and five decades. Her hit dance single "Believe" is her biggest-selling recording and was the best-selling single of 1999, having sold over 10 million copies worldwide. Maksim Chmerkovskiy
Maksim Aleksandrovich Chmerkovskiy (born January 17, 1980) is a Latin Ballroom dance champion, choreographer, and instructor. He is best known as one of the professional dancers on the American television series Dancing With The Stars, on which he first appeared in season two. He most recently partnered with actress Kirstie Alley. On May 24, they were announced as the runners-up.

Cher's Journey
When she was announced as a competitor, many parents were concerned that Cher's love for outlandish clothing would travel over to the DWTSGame, providing a negative image. Cher shrugged off the controversey.
In Week 2, Cher and Maksim danced a Cha-Cha-Cha to "Please Don't Leave Me" by P!nk. All of the judges except for Valerie Hashburntar loved the dance, saying it needed a lot more work. However, the dance recieved 25 out of 40, landing Cher and Maksim in seventh place on the judges leaderboard for the night. To virtually everyone's surprise, Cher and Maksim found themselves in the bottom-two later that week. Lee Meriwether was eliminated instead of them.
During Week 3, Cher and Maksim danced a Tango to "La Cumparsita" by Gerardo Rodriguez. The dance scored better with the judges than Week 2, and scored 29 points, landing Cher and Maksim in eighth place, tied with Zooey Deschanel and Reese Witherspoon.
In Week 4, Cher and Maksim danced a Samba to "Volare" by the Gypsy Kings. Cher wore another small and controversial outfit, to no one's surprise. The judges thought the dance was good but not great. It scored 30 points, landing Cher and Maksim in twelfth place for the night. Cher handled things more professionally when it was revealed that she and Maksim were in the bottom-three that week. Oprah Winfrey and Lady Gaga were eliminated instead.
During Week 5, Cher ditched Maksim to dance a Tango to "Only Girl In The World", by Rihanna, with Lil Wayne, as part of the Partner Ditch Week. Season 45 runner-up Cindy Crawford guest judged the dance and gave it a 10. They also danced a team dance Salsa to "Show Me How You Burlesque" by Christina Aguilera. This time it was scored by Kamie Crawford, who gave the dance a 9. Cher scored a total of 70 out of 80 for the night.
For Week 6, Cher and Maksim danced an Argentine Tango to "La Bohemia" by Electric Dub Tango. The dance was reviewed as Cher's best dance yet, and scored a 10 from guest judge Max Gao and a 37 total, landing Cher and Maksim in a 3-way tie for second place.
In Week 7, Cher and Maksim danced a Rumba to "If I Could Turn Back Time" by Cher, herself. The judges loved the dance and awarded it 37 points, again. They also danced in a Jitterbug Marathon to "In The Mood" by Glenn Miller. They were the ninth couple voted out and were awarded an extra 9 points, giving them a total of 46 out of 50 for the night.
For Week 8, Cher and Maksim danced a Viennese Waltz to "1000 Miles" by Vanessa Carlton. The judges said it was a new side of Cher and they all really loved it. They scored a 35 for technique and a 37 for performance for a total of 72 out of 80.
During Week 9, Cher and Maksim danced a "2 in 1", a Tango and a Cha-Cha-Cha, for only 1 set of scores. The judges actually loved the dance, and scored it accordingly. The dance scored 36, landing Cher in a tie for first place for the first time of the season. Cher was surprised when she and Maks were asked to repeat their 2 in 1 for the week's encore performance.
In Week 10, Cher and Maksim danced a Foxtrot to "I Wish I Were In Love Again" by Frank Sinatra. The dance got really good comments and a score of 37. They also danced a Paso Doble to "Free Your Mind" by En Vogue. This dance was called the best of the season, and got a perfect 40. Their combined score for the night was 77, landing team Chmer in first place again.
For Week 11, Cher and Maksim danced a Quickstep to "You're The One That I Want" from Grease. The dance got good comments, including a mostly-good review from guest judge Melanie LaPatin, and a score of 36. They also danced an instant Salsa to "El Cumbanchero" by Angel Melendez. This time, the dance got better comments, yet again scored 36. Their combined score for the night was 72.
In Week 12, Cher and Maksim danced a Jive to "Ain't That Peculiar" by Marvin Gaye. The judges loved the dance but said it did not exhibit the best of Cher's abilities. The dance got a 38. They also danced a Waltz to "Are You Lonesome Tonight" by Elvis Presley. The judges loved simple elegance and gave it a perfect 40. They got a combined total of 78 for the night. On results night, Cher and Maksim were given the encore for their Waltz. Cher was pushed through to the finals afterwards, becoming the oldest woman ever to reach the finals (at age 65).
During the Finals, Cher and Maksim re-did their Cha-Cha-Cha to "Game Of Love" by Michelle Branch. The judges noticed a major improvement and scored it 38 points, 13 higher than the first time. They then did their favorite Latin dance of the season, the Rumba to "If I Could Turn Back Time" by Cher, herself. The judges praised Cher's acting and gave it a 40. Finally, they danced a Freestyle to "Raise Your Glass" by P!nk. The judges said it was very fun, but too much like a Cha-Cha and awarded it 38. Cher got 116 out of 120 for the night.
In the Finale, Cher and Maksim's final dance was to their Tango to "Only Girl In The World" by Rihanna (who sang the song live). It got 40 points to give Cher a total of 157 for the week. Cher and Maksim were then announced as the RUNNERS-UP of Season 4!
