Kendall Schmidt (voiceover): Last week, Melanie LaPatin stopped by to guest judge. Steve and Tom fell to the bottom of the leaderboard, but it was surprisingly Katy Perry who was kicked off the floor (clip of elimination).

Brittany Brannon (voiceover): Tonight (clips of training), our four semi-finalists battle it out to earn their spot in the finals. With such a tight race, are we in for the shock of our lives? Live! This is Dancing with the Stars!

The opening sequence starts. Hank is first shown picking up Edyta. Sandra then does an elegant spin with Derek. Steve jokes around with Chelsie. Cher does a fierce pose while Maksim looks on. Zooey and Damian do a sexy, demure pose. Zac and Peta do a large jump. Tina fools around with Louis. Tom casually holds Kym. Hugh gives Karina a close look. Gaga does a vampire-esque pose on Dmitry. Logan does a secret handshake with Jeanine. Lil' Wayne holds Nicole under his legs. Lee does a ballroom pose with Corky. Katy and Mark spin around, jumping. Rihanna and Val go close to each others mouths. Arnold almost uses Cheryl as a weight. Cody does a dynamic, fun pose with Julianne. Curtis performs a New Yorker with Anna. Oprah giggles around with Alec. Reese and Tony close in a smooth pose. The DWTS logo is shown.

Kendall: Hello and welcome to Dancing with the Stars! I'm Kendall Schmidt.
Brittany: And I'm Brittany Brannon. Tonight it’s the Semi-Finals, and our remaining four couples dance twice in an effort to gain enough votes to be put into the finals next week.
Kendall: Also tonight, we have a new guest judge, Ethan Ferguson, who won our Guest Judge Contest this season! I wonder how he’ll score our final 4.
Brittany: We’re about to find out. But to do that, we need our semi-finalists. Let's meet them now.

The stars walk down the stairs in this order:  Steve Carell, Tom Hanks, Cher, and Sandra Bullock.

Brittany: There are your semi-finalists, America! Now, starting tonight's show with a Salsa is the man who, week after week, has scored amazingly with the judges, until last week when a near-tragic Paso Doble landed him in last. Can he regain the top tonight? Its actor Tom Hanks and his partner Kym Johnson!

In Tom's VT, he never expected to make the semi-finals. He admits he was disappointed with his Paso Doble and really wants to spruce up his performances this week so he can make the finals. Kym really wants to make the finals with Tom!

Voiceover: Dancing the Salsa, Tom Hanks and his partner, Kym Johnson.

Tom is wearing a red dress shirt and Kym is in a small red Salsa dress with a skirt. The pair dances to Michael Lloyd's “Johnny's Mambo”. Once finished they dance to Brittany.

Brittany: Aren’t you Mr. Sexy! Now, before I go to the judges, let's introduce our guest judge who won the Guest Judge Contest. It's Ethan Ferguson! (audience cheers) Welcome Ethan!
Ethan: Thank you.
Brittany: Let's go to our judges now.
Carrie Ann: What a dance! You made it so fun to watch and I loved it!
Len: A fun, exciting routine. You stole the show!
Bruno: A wild beast has been tamed! That Salsa was so hot that it burnt my mouth! Great job (cheers)!
Ethan: Tom, your footwork was amazing! (cheers) Your hip movement was brilliant and the same of someone half your age! Best dance of yours so far!
Brittany: Great comments! Over you go to Kendall.

The pair runs to Kendall.

Kendall: Great job, guys! Let's get the scores.

Will the judges please reveal their scores?

Carrie Ann Inaba: 10
Len Goodman: 10
Bruno Tonioli: 10
Ethan Ferguson: 10

Total: 40 (Tom is thrilled)

Kendall: What a way to start the show! Back to Brittany.

Brittany: Thanks babe! Next up, with a Jive, is the woman who delivered probably the most emotional Rumba in DWTSGame history last week. No, it’s not me (audience laughs). Its actress Sandra Bullock and her partner Derek Hough!

In Sandra's VT, she's thrilled to have made it to the semi-finals. She knows that with a lot of hard work and perseverance she can make it to the finals and possibly take home the Mirrorball!

Sandra is in a small black dress, Derek is in a black dress shirt with suspenders. The pair dances to Hall & Oates' “Maneater”. Once finished they walk to Brittany.

Carrie Ann: Wow! That was so much fun! You incorporated some great moves into that routine right there.
Len: Very strong. You did an incredible job with this.
Bruno: S-S-S-Sandra! (wolf whistles) A sultry, sexy routine! I adored it.
Ethan: That was your best dance so far. You were so good that I almost mistook you for a professional dancer.

Brittany: Thanks Kendall. Dancing now is the man who danced a very entertaining Samba last week, only to find himself in the bottom-two again, last week. Can he steer clear of the red this week? Its actor Steve Carell & Chelsie Hightower!

In Steve's VT, he feels guilty because he thought he'd go home last week instead of Katy Perry. Either way, he is in the semi-finals and is ready to put on a show!

Voiceover: Dancing the Salsa, Steve Carell and his partner, Chelsie Hightower.

Steve is in a blue dress shirt. Chelsie is in a small blue dress. The pair dance to Ricky Martin's “Jaleo”. Once finished they go to Brittany.

Len: It was (pause) interesting? (laughter, boos)
Bruno: You know what, it was fun! Not great, not precise, but fun, for sure! (cheers)

Brittany: Thank you. The final first round dance tonight goes to the woman who performed a Grease-themed Quickstep and a sexy-Salsa, although, the judges didn’t feel the need to give her the best scores. Will tonight see an improvement in her scores? Its singer and actress Cher and her partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy!

In Cher's VT, she can't believe she went from the Week 2 bottom two to the semi-finals. She definitely wants to get to the finals and is determined to get the Mirrorball trophy!

Voiceover: Dancing the Jive, Cher and her partner, Maksim Chmerkovskiy.

Bruno: I also hope you get to the finals, Cher, because you really deserve it (cheers).

Carrie Ann: Tom, that was a Class A performance! It was so much fun, you did way better than expected.
Tom: Woah!
Len: A good performance but not the best it can be (boos).
Bruno: Unfortunately, Len is right (boos). It lost timing here and there and could’ve been better.
Ethan: Even if you had a tiny misstep that was still so much fun! (cheers)

Bruno: I feel like you rushed me to another universe (cheers)! It has such power and attack; it was flawless!
Ethan: Your acting really came out in this dance. If this dance was a movie, you'd win another Oscar for it. (cheers)
